Kapiolani Park, the largest public park in the state, is situated at the foot of the Diamond Head crater in Honolulu, Hawaii. Named in honor the Hawaiian queen, Kapi'olani, the park has been operating for over 100 years. As such, it is home to a number of unique sights, such as the Banyan trees (trees with branches and trunks that spread out and often intertwine with each other).

In addition to the natural sights and sounds of the Hawaiian Islands, Kapiolani Park also boasts more exotic fauna at the Honolulu Zoo. Housing everything from reptiles to birds, the Honolulu Zoo in Kapiolani Park currently has more than 1,000 different animals residing in a number of specially designed habitats. The zoo is open to the public and is a popular destination on the island.

When tourists and residents aren't busy observing nature and animal life at the Honolulu Zoo, they still find plenty to do in Kapiolani Park. Tennis courts, soccer fields, and even an archery range can be all be found among the sun and shade of this Hawaiian park and the occasional musical performance can be taken in at the bandstand.
